Simple-to-make yet scrumptious Sausage & Apple Tray Bake
I’ve been doing so much cooking lately that I am thrilled when I find a recipe that is easy to put together, requires minimal cleanup, makes enough for leftovers and tastes amazing! And this is one of those recipes. It suggests serving it with mashed potatoes but, to keep it super simple, I just roast baby potatoes alongside it. For more like this, stay tuned for February’s recipe collection: A Flash in One Pan Dinners.

Online grocery shopping & delivery with Fresh City Farms
Always a fan, I have been especially grateful for online grocery shopping and delivery during the pandemic. I’ve been a happy customer of Fresh City Farms from their inception and they just keep getting better, adding more fabulous organic and artisanal foods virtually every week. They also have excellent, healthy, ready made meals for when you want a night off. And they even offer a small selection of local wine, beer and spirits as well as some fantastic non-alcoholic options. In fact, I made the tray bake mentioned above with blue cheese and pear pork sausage and served it with a bottle of Southbrook Organic Wild Ferment Cider, both from Fresh City Farms. My Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursachern
Say that five times fast. Much easier done in English, where it generally means egg topper (or egg clacker). I love soft-boiled eggs but had always been ridiculously inept at getting the top off no matter what method I used. Until I discovered this ingenious invention on a visit to my husband’s family in Germany, that is. It is a game changer, easily and cleanly “beheading” your boiled egg so you can eat it out of it’s shell with ease and grace. I hadn’t seen one here in Canada before so was excited to come across it in a recent Lee Valley Tools catalogue. Worth every penny IMHO. And clacking away at breakfast is a fun way to start your day!

Juicy joints: CARs Morning Routine
I also like to start off my day with this 13-minute morning routine for juicy joints. And, no, CARs doesn’t mean cannabis-assisted recreations (which I imagine might make most things go well in a day). Rather, it’s an acronym for controlled articular rotations. It is a Functional Range Conditioning® routine encouraging circulation of synovial fluid and nutrient-rich blood flow in ten joints, from head to toe, lubricating them (hence juicy joints). Over time, this routine increases the range of motion in your joints, improves mobility and helps keep them strong, healthy and pain-free. And one thing I am grateful for each and every day is movement. The ability to climb stairs, walk around our neighbourhoods, lift heavy things, dance, run and generally move our bodies with ease is a wonderful gift.

A catchy, uplifting, danceable tune: Treat People With Kindness
This Harry Styles song was released in December 2019 but the video (co-starring Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge) debuted New Year’s Day 2021. The chorus, reminding us to treat people with kindness, seems perfect for these pandemic times. Listening to this song always gives me a mood-boost, especially if I dance along.
